Seventeen years ago, we started with one guide, one vehicle and a belief that safari should feel personal. That belief still runs everything we do.
Kandoo began in Tanzania in 2009, long before it was anything more than a handful of guides who knew these parks better than anyone else. Over the years, that small operation grew into a team of guides who have spent their whole working lives here, travelling in well-maintained 4x4s built for exactly this landscape.
Kandoo Safari is where that expertise lives today. Every journey is unhurried and planned by people who have actually driven the routes, stayed in the lodges and watched the seasons turn, year after year.
Most safari companies sell you the dream, then quietly hand you over to someone else the moment you arrive. We’ve never worked that way. Our Arusha operation, led for years by Emanuel Nguma, runs every Kandoo safari with our own guides, travelling in well-maintained 4x4s with pop-top roofs for uninterrupted game viewing. Full board accommodation and packed lunches are arranged throughout, so all you need o think about is the view.
It takes longer to build a company this way. It’s also the only way we’d want to build one.
